Mocha Angels 365. Day 48.

I’m going to talk about work for the next few days. This is based on Louise Hay’s concepts in You Can Heal Your Life.

Wouldn’t you love to be deeply fulfilled by all that you do? The joy and meaning that would bring to your life would be spectacular.

The first thing to do is to check your negative thinking about your current job:

  • I hate this place.
  • My boss is an ass.
  • These people get on my last good nerve.
  • I don’t make enough money.
  • I am so tired of y’all I could just spit.
  • My co-workers suck.
  • Who hired these people?
  • This is way more work than I expected.
  • I am so tired of this s@%!
  • I work here? How did I end up here? WTF?
  • This is where I spend eight hours a day? Is this my life? Again…WTF?
  • (Feel free to add to this list in the comments because y’all know you’ve said the same things! And if you haven’t, I’d like to hear that too!)

We’ve all been there. I know I have. I have said variations of those sentences myself. Negative, defensive, angry thoughts about your job aren’t going to help. Even if you get a new job, you’ll have the same problems because you’ll bring the same thinking to the new job.

Change the way you think about the job you have now. Check your thoughts about it. What do you say when you complain to your partner or friends about your job? Awareness is the first step to change. No matter how crappy your job is, and it very well could be, you must make the internal change first.

Second step coming up tomorrow. Let me know what you’ve been saying about your current job. Anonymous replies are fine. I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble! (((hugs)))

The Work Series:

Holistic Saturdays: Mixed Berry Smoothie. (V, GF)

Mixed Berry Smoothie

  • 1.5 cups frozen mixed berries
  • 2-3 clementines, peeled
  • 1 banana, peeled
  • water
  • any leafy green (optional)

Blend until smooth.

Note:

You can always use fresh berries. Frozen berries are much cheaper, which is why I always use them in my smoothies.

Smoothies are a great place to add any leafy green. Spinach works well here because it’s a sweet green that doesn’t interfere with the taste. I didn’t add it here because frankly the original recipe makes for a prettier picture. 😊

It’s yummy. Let me know what you think.

Mocha Angels 365. Day 43.

(An oldie but goodie…)

Write a gratitude list at any time of the day.

  • When you are stressed.
  • When you are worried.
  • When you are happy.
  • When chaos is swirling around you.
  • When you are about to go to sleep.
  • When you are at work.
  • When you are confused.
  • When you are feeling fine.
  • When nothing is working for you.
  • When everything is working for you.

Writing a gratitude list redirects your thinking so you focus on all the goodness in your life. Create a gratitude journal dedicated to all that you are grateful for.

Mocha Angels 365. Day 33.

“Lean not on your own understanding” means not to only trust what you perceive with your five senses. There is more to this planet than what you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell. Your understanding of life is increased by the gift from God: intuition.

This sixth sense is your Higher Power guiding you in the right direction. Intuition is always your first thought about a situation. The thought is usually quick and fleeting. Sometimes intuition is felt in your body, a la “I had a gut feeling about……”

Listening to your intuition is a skill to be cultivated in order for you to trust it. That’s why meditation or even quiet time with no media distractions is helpful. They both teach you to listen to your own inner wisdom.

Mantra: I trust my intuition today.

Holistic Saturdays: Carrot Smoothie.

Carrot Smoothie

  • 3-4 organic carrots broken in half or cut in pieces (depends on how powerful a blender you use)
  • 1-2 bananas
  • 1-2 cups almond milk or any non-dairy milk (depends on how thick you want your smoothie)
  • 1-2 tablespoons of agave or maple syrup
  • ground cinnamon or ground pumpkin pie spice (to taste). Start with a teaspoon.
  • optional:
  • 2 cups of kale
  • small handful walnuts

Add all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth!

I’ve been drinking this in the morning before breakfast. It makes a great coffee replacement. Carrots have a lot of natural sugar in them. I notice a boost in energy whenever I drink this.

All of the ingredients are to taste. If you want it sweeter, add more agave or another banana. If you want to make this smoothie more of a meal replacement, add the walnuts which adds good fat and extra calories.

Once I made the smoothie with water instead of milk. Yuck! Milk is definitely the way to go. I love this smoothie (I love all the smoothies I’ll share on my blog!). It’s an easy way to get vegetables in you. Also the kale (or any leafy green) is not noticeable. Try a couple pieces of kale instead of two cups if you are hesitant. I promise you won’t taste the “bitter greeniness” of kale.

A high-powered blender like a VitaMix or Ninja or Blendtec are preferred for all smoothies, especially for blending a tough vegetable like carrots. Use what you have in your kitchen now. Add more milk until the smoothie is no longer chunky (hence why it’s called a smoothie and not a “chunkie!”) Enjoy!

Mocha Angels 365. Day 29.

Lyric from “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” by Wang Chung. Written by Nick Feldman. Produced by Peter Wolf, Jack Hues, and Wang Chung. Released September 13, 1986. From the album “Mosaic.”

Can you tell I’m an 80’s kid? I loved that song when I was a kid. I was like, “What’s a Wang Chung?” Nobody cared because it was a Top 40 jam and it had a nice beat. (Which is what the kids always said on American Bandstand.)

Today’s post is inspired by music, specifically Soul Train. I was having a moment, not feeling too great. The YouTube algorithm magically sensed my need to feel better and up popped “The Best of Soul Train 1971-1979, Volume 6.” I didn’t even know Soul Train had a “best of” series.

Lenny Williams, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Ohio Players, The O’Jays, Donna Summer, The Pointers Sisters, the Soul Train dancers, and commercials for Ultra Sheen?! Are you kidding? The music of my childhood? The clothes, the hair, the attitude! I was IN HEAVEN!! Life is GREAT! Mama was singing and dancing her butt off.

What’s today’s message? SING, DANCE, and HAVE FUN. Put on your favorite music and shake your booty!

If you have access to YouTube on your television, watch Soul Train on the telly. And watch volume 5 to see Ike and Tina Turner singing live. It was great to be an Ikette for a few minutes!
